    Module 1
    Ist Year - IT Management Core Modules
    Programming – 10 ECTS

    This module is neither particularly theoretical nor just about programming specifics — it will give you a framework for understanding how to use language constructs effectively and how to design correct and elegant programs. By using different languages, you will learn to think more deeply than in terms of the particular syntax of one language. The emphasis on functional programming is essential for learning how to write robust, reusable, composable, and elegant programs. Indeed, many of the most important ideas in modern languages have their roots in functional programming. Get ready to learn a fresh and beautiful way to look at software and how to have fun building it.

    • Understand basic algorithms in an operational context and the process of programming an application.
    • Understand the basics of an object-oriented programming language.

    • Networking – 10 ECTS
      This hands-on Introduction to Networking module will enable you to take a more active part in the discussion and decision-making processes related to networking technology issues. You take your first step toward networking and data communications exposure and gain the practical knowledge and skills to become comfortable with basic concepts, technologies, components, and design alternatives. You learn to implement networks using data links and physical media, deploy LANs using Ethernet and Wi-Fi and build reliable internetworks and intranets using proven TCP/IP design techniques.

      • Use design tools to design a database system for a significant problem. Examine the innovative practices of database design.
      • Testing the system and the system requirements.
      • Design a database management system that fulfils changing business requirements.

      • Cyber Security – 10 ECTS
        The module includes combined core topics in the realm of computing and cyber security, such as computer systems, network and computer forensics, system and network security, ethical hacking, applied offensive and defensive security, and human and organizational security. Students will learn best practices for the design of secure modern networks and software systems as well as advanced techniques for security engineering, digital forensics, applied offensive and defensive security and applied cryptography. Students will learn about evolving threats and the proper use of specific security tools. Both security theory and hands-on practice is stressed and emphasized in this module.

        Academic & Critical Thinking Skills – 10 ECTS
        In the era of hyper-connection, we are living, we are bombarded with a continuous flow of information and news: young people if not well trained in critical thinking will tend to absorb any information without reformulating and questioning it, thus ending up believing immediately everything they read or hear. Critical thinking is important, especially in a world that is often made of fake news, voluntary distortions of facts or reality and propaganda.       • International Business Management – 10 ECTS
        The increasing globalization of the marketplace affects all who are involved with business or who must make business decisions. Even those who are not directly involved in international business are affected in their domestic operations by international events and by the business activities of foreign entities. Therefore, it is imperative to be knowledgeable about international business systems. This module introduces students to a fundamental understanding of the socioeconomic, political, cultural, and linguistic environment in which international businesses operate. This course utilizes an inquiry-based approach to understanding country-level relationships in the Global Business Environment. It surveys the global business environment by asking and answering key questions about society, the global economy, cultures, and institutions in the business world.

    Module 2
    2nd year - IT Management Core Modules
    Business Intelligence – 10 ECTS
    This module provides an introduction to the concepts of business intelligence (BI) as components and functionality of information systems. It explores how business problems can be solved effectively by using operational data to create data warehouses, and then applying data mining tools and analytics to gain new insights into organizational operations. A detailed discussion of the analysis, design and implementation of systems for BI, including the differences between types of reporting and analytics, enterprise data warehousing, data management systems, decision support systems, knowledge management systems, big data and data/text mining. Case studies are used to explore the use of application software, web tools, success and limitations of BI as well as technical and social issues.

    • DDemonstrate the use of technologies and tools that make up BI.
    • DAnalyse, design and implement the technical architecture that underpins BI

    Artificial Intelligence – 10 ECTS
    To develop semantic-based and context-aware systems to acquire, organize process, share and use the knowledge embedded in multimedia content. The research will aim to maximize automation of the complete knowledge lifecycle and achieve semantic interoperability between Web resources and services. The field of Robotics is multi-disciplinary as robots are amazingly complex systems comprising mechanical, electrical, electronic H/W and S/W and issues germane to all these. This module provides an introduction to artificial intelligence (AI). The list of topics may include artificial neural networks, search, planning, knowledge-based reasoning, probabilistic inference, machine learning, natural language processing, and practical applications.

    • Analyse what constitutes AI, the current trends and issues determining the effectiveness of AI technology.
    • Ability to apply Artificial Intelligence techniques for problem-solving.
    • Plan and implement an intelligent system using an AI technique.
    • Investigate and deliberate upon a range of emerging AI technologies impacting future changes in the business industry.
    • Cloud Computing – 10 ECTS
      This module introduces you to the core concepts of cloud computing. You gain the foundational knowledge required for understanding cloud computing from a business perspective and also for becoming a cloud practitioner. You understand the definition and essential characteristics of cloud computing, its history, the business case for cloud computing, and emerging technology use cases enabled by the cloud. We introduce you to some of the prominent service providers of our times (e.g. AWS, Google, IBM, Microsoft, etc.) the services they offer, and look at some case studies of cloud computing across industry verticals.

      • Understand the concepts, characteristics, delivery models and benefits of Cloud Computing and its architectures.
      • Evaluate the service and deployment models, including technological drivers of Cloud Computing.
      • Develop Cloud Computing solutions using service providers’ frameworks and open-source tools.
      • Analyse the key technical and organisational challenges for cloud applications, including their risk assessment.
      Operating Systems – 10 ECTS This module will introduce you to modern operating systems. We will focus on UNIX-based operating systems, though we will also learn about alternative operating systems, including Windows. The module will begin with an overview of the structure of modern operating systems. Over the subsequent learning outcomes, we will discuss the history of modern computers, analyze in detail each of the major components of an operating system (from processes to threads), and explore more advanced topics in the field, including memory management and file input/output.

      • Investigate the processes managed by an OS, including the scheduling algorithms and synchronization techniques.
      • Explore the use of virtual and secondary memory management in OS.
      • Demonstrate the use of the current OS used for business applications.
      • Additional Business Modules Data Analytics – 10 ECTS
        This module presents a gentle introduction to the concepts of data analysis, the role of a Data Analyst, and the tools that are used to perform daily functions. You will gain an understanding of the data ecosystem and the fundamentals of data analysis, such as data gathering or data mining. You will then learn the soft skills that are required to effectively communicate your data to stakeholders, and how mastering these skills can give you the option to become a data-driven decision maker.

        • Understand the use of statistical and other analytic tools and techniques to transform business data into coherent business objectives.
        • Analyse the use of different analytical approaches to solve business problems and help in management functions.
        • Utilization of data analysis to help decision-making in a business context.

        • Research Methods for Business – 10 ECTS
          This module will introduce you to a range of research processes that will help to inform your choice of the research problem, research methodology, research methods, and data analysis. You’ll start by examining how to define your research problem and build a search strategy to hone your initial scoping research so you don’t get overwhelmed with too many sources and too much information.

          • Determine and develop research scope, aim, objectives, and research questions, by defining a specific business problem(s).
          • Critically review the literature pertaining to the specific business problem(s).
          • Demonstrate research skills required to understand research methodologies, and collection of primary and secondary data, including ethical considerations of research.
          • Conduct and examine research data in a business context, by applying appropriate analytical tools to investigate the acquired data arrive at logical research findings, and communicate outcomes of the research project to identified stakeholders.
    Module 3
    3rd year
    Knowledge Management – 10 ECTS
    As organizations have become more knowledge-intensive, the ability to manage knowledge has become a matter of competitive survival. This module is intended to provide students with a blend of theory and current practice in knowledge management in organizations. After introducing the contemporary importance of knowledge and knowledge management, information and communication technologies that play a prominent role in knowledge management processes are examined. The module examines the importance of knowledge for organizational learning, as well as knowledge creation and organizational unlearning. Socio-cultural issues related to managing and sharing knowledge will also be considered. The role of leadership and how it can support and facilitate knowledge management activities is also examined.

    Business Sustainability – 10 ECTS
    This module is designed to address the growing need and prevalence of sustainability practices in business – giving you the tools to pioneer meaningful change throughout your organization. The focus is on developing and communicating sustainable practices within business today and for the future. Decisions relating to the different facets of sustainability, and developing these with the various stakeholders involved, will be examined and provides students with knowledge of both the strategic and operational aspects of sustainable practices, the knowledge that can then be applied in a practical situation.

    • Describe the organizational drivers for business sustainability and their impact on the nature and scope of the business’ economic, social, and ecological responsibilities.
    • Appraise and critique the role of business in the transition to sustainability in relation to stakeholders involved in the organization.

    • Develop a critical awareness toward Sustainable Development Growth.

    Innovation and Design Thinking – 10 ECTS This module is designed to provide the students with a comprehensive and in-depth experience of Design Thinking, culminating in the presentation of a creative, innovative solution to a complex real-world challenge. Over the course of this module, participants will develop their expertise in Design Thinking through experiential learning activities. The students will be brought through all the stages of the Design Thinking process will culminate in a ‘Solution Presentation to the host organization’.

    • Apply advanced skills to market test the desirability, feasibility, and validity of the business model.
    • Discuss the importance of opportunity recognition in the innovation process through innovation funnel.

    • New Venture Development – 10 ECTS
      This module will equip students with a good understanding of the strategic, operational, human capital, and financial issues and theory central to developing an idea into a new business and will develop your judgment in relation to which business ideas have a competitive advantage. Additionally, you will gain a clear understanding of the numbers in relation to growing an idea successfully into a new venture. You will develop your own business idea through the medium of a business plan and receive feedback on this in a way that combines theory with a practical, applied perspective.

      • Articulate a new venture value proposition and communicate ideas and concepts effectively.
      • Understand and apply a range of skills required in financial planning and processes in the context of entrepreneurship.
      • Critically evaluate the key challenges and risk stages in sustaining a new venture.
      • Develop practical strategies for exploiting business opportunities and resourcing new venture creation and development.

      Research Project – 20 ECTS
      The Research Project aims to help students to develop an understanding of the research process and to undertake research leading to the successful completion of their dissertation. It enables students to conduct research independently and provides them with the knowledge, skills, and understanding required to develop their proposal for their dissertation. The project covers ideas, techniques, and methods relevant to different stages of the research process, stressing the interdependence of each stage in conducting effective, coherent, and rigorous research.
